One Dead, More Hurt When Car Barrels Into DC Outdoor Dining Area: Police

At least one person has died and eleven people were injured, including some in critical condition, when a car crashed into an outdoor seating area in DC Friday, March 11.

Crews responded to the 5500 block of Connecticut Avenue NW where the car appeared to have crashed next to the Parthenon Restaurant around 12:30 p.m.

Police said the driver of the car was an elderly male who was driving alone and lost control of his car. They believe the crash was entirely accidental. 

DC Fire & EMS said that of the eight people taken to local hospitals, five of them were listed in critical condition. Three more were treated and released on scene.

DC Fire & EMS tweeted a video showing crew members working to dislodge the car.

No structural damage was reported. This is a developing story so check back for updates.
